In social and economic arenas, America has made impressive gains in equality and fairness. Those gains must be protected and there needs to be much more progress.
Following the 2016 election, women and men immediately marched in huge numbers to voice their support for continuing to move America forward. The Women's March in Chicago brought together strong, open-minded, energized people whose common desire is to build upon the gains made in America.
Sixth District residents are continuing to speak out. Their views are thoughtful, reasonable and often guided by common interest rather than solely self-interest. Constituents' views should not be discounted. Constituents view should be reflected by our elected leaders. There is no doubt that our residents will continue to speak out against politicians who benefit from legislative gridlock and do not reflect the views of the residents.
Sixth District residents' actions demonstrate their commitment to fundamental American values and their desire for new representation.
Across our District, there are opportunities for civic participation. To make progress, we must continue to take action.
